Environmental Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Our Commitment

Online Lifestyle Ltd (trading as The Wool Junction) is committed to minimising our environmental impact and operating in a sustainable and responsible manner. We recognise that our business activities have an effect on the environment and we are dedicated to continuous improvement in our environmental performance.

Packaging

We are committed to reducing packaging waste across our operations:

  • We use recycled and recyclable cardboard boxes for all shipments
  • Tissue paper used for wrapping is FSC-certified and biodegradable
  • We avoid single-use plastic wherever possible, using paper tape and cardboard void fill
  • We encourage customers to reuse or recycle packaging materials
  • We actively seek out packaging suppliers who share our environmental values

Product Sourcing

We prioritise working with suppliers who demonstrate environmental responsibility:

  • We stock yarns made from natural, renewable fibres (wool, cotton, bamboo, alpaca)
  • We seek out suppliers with transparent supply chains and ethical manufacturing practices
  • We support British manufacturers and suppliers to reduce transportation emissions
  • We offer recycled yarn options where available
  • We work with fabric suppliers who hold OEKO-TEX or GOTS certifications where possible

Operations

Within our own operations, we strive to:

  • Minimise energy consumption in our warehouse and office spaces
  • Reduce paper usage through digital-first communication and documentation
  • Recycle all cardboard, paper, and plastic waste generated in our operations
  • Consolidate shipments where possible to reduce the number of deliveries
  • Work with delivery partners who are investing in electric vehicle fleets and carbon-neutral delivery options

Waste Reduction

We are committed to minimising waste throughout our supply chain:

  • Our just-in-time (JIT) ordering model means we only order stock when customers need it, reducing overstock and waste
  • Fabric offcuts are donated to local schools and community craft groups where possible
  • Damaged or unsellable yarn is repurposed for sample knitting or donated to charity knitting groups
  • We aim for zero waste to landfill from our warehouse operations

Carbon Footprint

We acknowledge that shipping products contributes to carbon emissions. We are actively exploring carbon offset programmes and will update this policy as we implement further measures. We encourage customers to consider consolidated orders where possible to reduce delivery frequency.

Continuous Improvement

We review this policy annually and set measurable targets for environmental improvement. We welcome feedback and suggestions from our customers, suppliers, and stakeholders on how we can further reduce our environmental impact.
